MOSCOW, May 25. /TASS/. The Russian energy system is implementing pilot units for construction of energy storage units and their capacity will reach 600 MW over the year, department director at the Russian Energy Ministry Andrey Maksimov said.
"Russia is currently implementing storage system to increase the reliability in supplies of energy received from renewable energy sources. We will implement the first projects during the time soon, providing for installation of 600 MW storage units in the south and in the east of the country," Maksimov said, cited by the Energy Ministry.
Deputy Energy Minister Pyotr Konyushenko told TASS in the interview earlier that the ministry would consider an option of building energy storage systems in the Primorsky Region with the capacity of about 250 MW to provide the region with electric power.
