The Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RHF) has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne against the decision of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) to extend the suspension of Russian national teams, the RHF press office announced in a statement on Tuesday.
"The Russian Ice Hockey Federation appealed the decisions of the International Ice Hockey Federation to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne," the statement reads.
"In order to settle the dispute promptly and after reaching an agreement with the international federation on all necessary conditions for applying to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the RHF submitted the full text of the complaint directly to CAS on August 31," the statement from the RHF continued.
"The agreement with the IIHF stipulates that the hearing on the case will take place at the end of October 2026, and the regulatory part of the decision will be announced shortly thereafter," according to the RHF. "If CAS decides to clear Russian teams to participate in the world championships, this decision will be binding on the IIHF."
