Sequel to 'How to Lose a Guy In 10 Days' in Development with Kate Hudson Producing

A sequel to the 2003 romantic comedy "How to Lose a Guy In 10 Days" is in the very early stages of development, with Kate Hudson set to produce and potentially reprise her role alongside Matthew McConaughey.

The original film, which also starred McConaughey, grossed nearly $180 million at the box office and became a cultural phenomenon, with Hudson's character Andie researching an article on modern dating by trying to make a man fall in love and then break up with him within 10 days. McConaughey's character, Benjamin, bets he can make any woman fall for him, with Andie as his target.

Sources close to the project have indicated that both Hudson, 47, and McConaughey, 56, could reprise their roles, though the project is still in its infancy. Hudson will produce the sequel alongside acclaimed producer Stacey Sher, known for her work on "Pulp Fiction" and "Matilda".

The news follows a trend of nostalgic sequels in Hollywood, including "The Devil Wears Prada 2", which also featured a magazine employee as its protagonist.

In a 2024 interview with People Magazine, McConaughey reflected on his first meeting with Hudson before filming the original, highlighting their immediate comfort and playful dynamic, which he believed contributed to the film's success.
