Passenger minibus plunges off cliff in Sivas: 4 dead, 10 injured

The accident occurred at around 12:30 on the D-865 highway near the Elmaseki-Çokrak village in the Suşehri district. Traveling from Sivas toward Suşehri with 14 passengers on board, the passenger minibus with license plate 58 SG 604, driven by a driver whose name has not yet been learned, lost control after the driver lost steering control.

The minibus crashed into the barriers, spun out, and plunged down a cliff. Upon notification by bystanders, numerous health, police, gendarmerie, fire, and AFAD teams were dispatched to the accident site. The teams, arriving in the area shortly, worked to rescue the people trapped inside the vehicle.

AIR AMBULANCE DISPATCHED

According initial determinations, 4 people in the vehicle lost their lives in the accident. 10 people were injured, 4 of them critically. The critically injured individuals, whose lives are in danger, were taken to hospitals in the city center by air ambulance and other ambulances, while the other 6 slightly injured were transported to surrounding hospitals.

While gendarmerie and police teams took extensive security measures at the accident site, a comprehensive investigation into the accident was launched.

IDENTITIES OF THE DECEASED DETERMINED

It was determined that Funda Durhan, Erva Durhan, Dilek Özcan, and Hikmet Cengiz lost their lives in the passenger minibus that crashed into the barriers and plunged down a cliff in Sivas's Suşehri district. In the accident, U.G. (47), A.S., İ.B., H.Ç., M.S. (55), H.A. (55), A.K. (33), İ.K. (48), N.K., and N.B. were injured.
