Ali Haydar Kurum, whose images were shared on social media, was detained

Ali Haydar Kurum (61), whose images were shared on social media with the phrase 'Businessman from Van', was detained in Ümraniye within the scope of the investigation carried out against him.

According to the news in DHA; Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation after the recorded images of a person walking with the words "Businessman from Van" were shared on a platform on social media, similar to the images of the person known to the public as "Kara Haydar from Van".

In the examination of the images by the Istanbul Police Department teams, it was determined that the person was Ali Haydar Kurum, born in Erciş in 1965 and that he resided in the Pendik district of Istanbul.

11 CRIMINAL RECORDS WERE DETECTED

During the inquiries made about the institution, it was determined that there were 11 incident records for various crimes such as 'abuse of trust', 'drug use', 'intentional injury', 'attempted intentional murder', 'threat' and 'insult'.

HE WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

Ali Haydar Kurum was detained in Ümraniye within the scope of the investigation launched for the crime of 'insulting the Turkish Nation, the State of the Republic of Türkiye, and the institutions and organs of the State'. It was learned that the suspect's procedures at the police station are continuing.

"SOCIAL MEDIA IS NOT UNCONTROLLED"

On the other hand, Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made a statement about the situation in his social media post. Minister Gürlek's statements are as follows:

"Social media is not an illegal and uncontrolled area!

Our judicial authorities show the necessary sensitivity against posts designed to harm the peace and sense of trust of our citizens and create fear and anxiety in society, and scenes prepared to legitimize the proceeds of crime.

Two events that have been revealed to the public recently are clear indicators of this. M.F.T., known as "Vanlı Kara Haydar" on social media. Following the financial investigations carried out within the scope of the investigation initiated by the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the suspect was arrested for the crime of "laundering assets arising from crime".

Similarly, A.H.K., who came to the fore with his images published on social media. An investigation was initiated against him by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; Detention, search and seizure procedures were carried out against the suspect.

Activities aimed at hiding the source of criminal proceeds or legitimizing these proceeds through social media with luxurious life, ostentatious weddings or similar scenes, and criminal contents that create fear and distrust in the society will be carefully examined by our judicial authorities.

Our Chief Public Prosecutors' Offices; In coordination with the police, gendarmerie and relevant institutions, the person behind these posts will reveal their money and criminal connections through financial and technical investigations, and will implement the necessary judicial procedures without delay in cases of suspicion of crime.

Our stance is clear: Virtual fame created on social media will not be a screen for hiding crime and its proceeds."
