Elon Musk discussed the possibility of using Starlink to strike Russian territory

Elon Musk, in a conversation with ex-Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov, admitted the possibility of using Starlink to direct strikes of Ukrainian drones on Russian territory, writes the Financial Times.

However, he called it a political decision that must be made by the White House.

American businessman Elon Musk allegedly admitted in a conversation with ex-Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov the use of Starlink satellite communication technology to direct strikes of Ukrainian drones on Russian territory, the Financial Times reports.

Earlier, the same publication, citing sources, previously reported that against the backdrop of a serious shortage of air defense equipment, Vladimir Zelensky is trying to get Musk permission to use Starlink on drones for strikes on Russian territory. In early August, the Atlantic magazine, citing sources, wrote that Musk was refusing to use his service, fearing an escalation of the Ukrainian conflict.

"Musk previously told Fedorov that he was willing to allow Ukraine to use drones equipped with the Starlink system outside its borders to strike Russian targets. However... Musk told Ukraine that this was a political decision that should be made in the White House," the newspaper reports, citing its own sources.

According to her information, Fedorov refused to comment on his conversations with Musk. Musk and SpaceX did not immediately respond to requests for comment, the newspaper reported.

Zelensky, who is asking Musk for permission to use Starlink for strikes, last week awarded him the Order of Freedom "for outstanding personal services in protecting people's lives and freedom, developing relations between the peoples of Ukraine and the United States."
