Three arrested over fatal shooting of 22-year-old plumber in Thomastown

Police investigating a fatal shooting in Melbourne's north earlier this week have arrested three people, including two teenagers.

Daniel Hussein, 22, was shot in front of friends at HR Uren Reserve in Thomastown at about 7:30pm Sunday.

Paramedics tried to revive Mr Hussein in front of his loved ones and several shocked onlookers, but he died at the scene.

Police have arrested a 19-year-old Donnybrook man, a 20-year-old Donnybrook man and a 19-year-old Lalor woman over the shooting.

They were arrested in Deer Park at about 5:50pm Wednesday and are being interviewed by Homicide Squad detectives.

Relatives said Mr Hussein, a plumber, was engaged to be married and had recently bought a house.

"He had his whole life ahead of him," his brother said at the scene of the shooting earlier this week.

Mr Hussein's uncle, Abdallah Hussein, said he had never imagined he would have to say goodbye to his nephew.

"I still cannot believe you are gone," he wrote on social media.

" I still cannot understand that I will never see your smile again, never hear your voice, never watch you walk through that door again. "

The shooting occurred near the Lalor Soccer Club, where junior matches had been played several hours earlier.

Victoria Police said investigation was ongoing and urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
