Brady recently revealed that he created folders for his Super Bowl victories and kept the congratulatory messages people sent him after each championship. According to Brady’s YouTube QnA video posted months ago, on Feb. 8, the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback has maintained the unusual digital archive for years.

There is also a simple difference between a record and a memory. Brady’s seven championships, 10 appearances and five Super Bowl MVP awards will remain in NFL record books. The messages capture what those achievements felt like to the people communicating with him when they happened. Years after his final NFL season, Brady can still open a folder and return to those conversations. For a quarterback whose career is usually reduced to rings and records, that may be the most interesting part of the collection. He already knows what he won.
