Three injured by the fall of a wall and 300 evacuated from a campsite due to torrential rains in Tarragona

This Saturday, the Generalitat Firefighters rescued three people who had been injured by the fall of a wall, one of them in critical condition and another in serious condition, and they evacuated a campsite in Roda de Berà (Tarragona) after the torrential rains fell in this municipality in the last few hours.

As explained by Firefighters sources, the fall of the wall occurred at number 8 Bèlgica Avenue, in the area of ​​the Roda de Berà marina, around 2:00 am.

Of the three injured people, one is in critical condition and another in serious condition, so they have been transferred to the Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona. The other injured person, less seriously, has been admitted to the Santa Tecla hospital.

As for the campsite, a dozen fire crews have traveled to the campsite due to flooding in its facilities.

As explained by the Bombers in a message on X, once there they evacuated about 300 people who were in the establishment to the municipal sports center. No one has been seriously injured.

Torrential rains in the province of Tarragona have forced road closures and affected several Rodalies lines during the early hours of this Saturday.

The station in Sant Vicenç de Calders (Tarragona) has been flooded, which has forced circulation to be cut off, affecting the R2 Sud, R4, R13, R14, R15, R16, R17 and RT2. Shortly after 10:00 a.m. this Saturday, the service had already been restored.

Given this situation, Civil Protection keeps the Inuncat plan alert activated, after quantities close to 200 mm have accumulated in the Baix Penedès in a few hours early in the morning, and more than 110 mm on the northern coast of Tarragonès.

During today's rains could once again exceed 200 liters per square meter in 24 hours in those two areas.

The president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, has asked for "maximum caution" in the face of the intense rain episodes expected for this Saturday and which may exceed 200 liters per square meter.

In a message in 'X' collected by Europa Press, Illa has also expressed her support to the people affected by the rains this morning, which have been especially intense in the south of Tarragona, in the regions of Baix Penedès and Tarragonès.

"For the next few hours we continue to be on alert. I ask for maximum caution, avoid unnecessary movements, follow the instructions of the emergency service, do not approach rivers, streams and ravines and do not park in flood-prone areas," he recalled.
