Trump Praises Reporter's Appearance at G7 Summit

President Donald Trump became distracted by a “handsome” reporter during a G7 press conference and paused the meeting to comment on the journalist’s appearance.

Majed AlFarsi, a reporter with Sky News Arabia, was called on to ask a question Tuesday at the summit in France, where Trump was meeting with United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

But before AlFarsi could ask his question, Trump stopped in his tracks.

“What a nice-looking person. Is he from your country?” Trump asked the UAE president. “He has such a nice way about him.”

“My people are so mean,” the president said, referring to the American media, as the room erupted in laughter. “Handsome guy,” he said. “Could put him in a movie right now.”

Al Nahyan was then heard quipping, “Be careful!” before footage cut to AlFarsi, who was laughing, and flashed a smile on camera.

“Thank you, Mr. President,” AlFarsi replied.

The reporter appears to be enjoying his viral international fame, and has been sharing clips of the interaction with Trump on his Instagram.

The president often comments on the appearances of others, including members of the press, but he is not always so complimentary. Trump has berated CNN’s “beautiful” White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins on more than one occasion for not smiling during press briefings.

“A young beautiful woman, never smiles,” Trump said of Collins in the Oval Office on June 3, who had asked the president about his now-shuttered $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization” fund proposal.

“I never see a smile off her face,” he said. “I see her standing there with hatred in her eyes, like she has hatred, because we had borders, because we have a strong military, because we cut our taxes, because we do things that everybody wanted, and then we win our election in a massive landslide.”

And in late May, while addressing Coast Guard graduates, Trump commented on students’ physiques at the ceremony as they went up to the stage one by one.

As one male student approached the stage, Trump said, “I hate good-looking men.”

“Look at the muscles on this guy!” he said of another. “I just hit him on the shoulder and hurt my hand, it's like hitting a rock!”
