Tunisian arrested for attempted murder with machete in Medicina

A 57-year-old of Tunisian origin, a bricklayer resident in Medicina in the Bolognese area, who on Sunday afternoon attacked a 28-year-old Italian man in his home, who was seriously injured, was arrested for committing a crime for attempted aggravated murder. The young man, according to what was reconstructed by the carabinieri coordinated in the investigation by prosecutor Anna Cecilia Sessa, opened the door of his house to the man, whom he did not know, who presented himself with an excuse: he told him that he had to tell him information on behalf of his mother.

Then the violent attack with a machete, with a 50 centimeter blade. The 57-year-old went away on his bicycle, getting rid of the weapon, as the soldiers of the Bologna investigative unit and the mobile radio operations unit of the Imola company ascertained, throwing it into a canal not far from the victim's home. The 28-year-old, who sought help from his neighbors, was rescued by 118 and taken urgently to the Maggiore hospital in Bologna where he is hospitalized in the intensive care unit: based on what we learn, his life is no longer in danger. According to the investigations, the worker, who has been in Italy since 1998 and, after leaving our country, returning in 2023, began harassing the 28-year-old's mother in the spring, who lives with her son in the town of Medicina and who has been in a relationship with a partner for some time. Even with phone calls, the 57-year-old would have bothered the woman, who told everything to the police, and probably on Sunday afternoon, when he rang the bell at the family home and found her son, he was looking for her.
