Türkiye's GDP increased by 2.3% in the second quarter of 2026

Breaking news: The first estimate for GDP in the second quarter of 2026, measured by the chained volume index, increased by 2.3% compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

An examination of the activities comprising GDP reveals that, in the second quarter of 2026, the chained volume index increased compared to the previous year by 13.3% in the agriculture, forestry, and fishing sector; 8.6% in information and communication activities; 4.0% in public administration, education, human health, and social work activities; 3.3% in taxes on products less subsidies; 3.2% in other service activities; 2.4% in the industry sector; 2.1% in financial and insurance activities; 2.1% in real estate activities; 2.0% in professional, scientific, technical, administrative, and support service activities; and 0.5% in trade, transport, accommodation, and food service activities. The construction sector decreased by 1.9%.

The seasonally and calendar-adjusted GDP chained volume index increased by 1.1% compared to the previous quarter. The calendar-adjusted GDP chained volume index increased by 2.3% in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

The Gross Domestic Product estimate by production method increased by 36.0% at current prices compared to the same quarter of the previous year in the second quarter of 2026, reaching 19 trillion 869 billion 747 million TL. The second-quarter GDP value amounted to 438 billion 347 million US dollars at current prices.

HOUSEHOLD EXPENDITURES INCREASED BY 3.5 PERCENT

Final consumption expenditures of resident households increased by 3.5% in the chained volume index compared to the same quarter of the previous year in the second quarter of 2026. Government final consumption expenditures decreased by 1.8%, while gross fixed capital formation increased by 0.6%.

Exports of goods and services decreased by 3.4% in the chained volume index compared to the same quarter of the previous year in the second quarter of 2026, while imports decreased by 6.4%.

Compensation of employees increased by 36.7% compared to the same quarter of the previous year in the second quarter of 2026. Net operating surplus/mixed income increased by 38.7%.

The share of compensation of employees in Gross Value Added at current prices was 38.3% in the second quarter of the previous year, while this ratio stood at 38.1% in the second quarter of 2026. The share of net operating surplus/mixed income was 41.3% in the second quarter of the previous year, while it stood at 41.6% in the second quarter of 2026.
