Emphasis on military dialogue and defense industry cooperation between Türkiye and Japan

Stating that the global security environment has become increasingly complex and difficult to predict, Güler said that threats that diversify and increase day by day, as well as risks shaped by new technologies and different security areas, require a stronger dialogue and closer cooperation between countries. Güler stated that while Türkiye resolutely fulfills its responsibilities towards maintaining international peace and stability, great importance is attached to the development of military relations with friendly and allied countries. Stating that they find the advancement of military relations between the two countries extremely valuable, Güler said, "The military dialogue meetings we hold constitute an important basis for developing mutual understanding, determining new areas of cooperation and planning joint studies for the future." he said.

EMPHASIS ON COOPERATION IN THE DEFENSE INDUSTRY

Underlining that the defense industry is one of the areas with the greatest potential for development in bilateral relations recently, Güler said: "Japan's experience in advanced technology, engineering and high quality and Türkiye's extensive production capacity, field experience and innovative solutions in the defense industry, especially unmanned aerial vehicles and armed unmanned aerial vehicles, offer important opportunities that can complement each other.

In this regard, we evaluate that there are important cooperation opportunities in the fields of military and defense industry, especially unmanned systems, air defense technologies, maritime security and electronic warfare." Emphasizing that he welcomed the holding of the Japan-Turkey Defense Industry Cooperation Day for the first time within the scope of SAHA 2026 held in Istanbul and the discussion of cooperation opportunities in advanced technology by more than 10 Japanese companies and approximately 30 Turkish defense industry companies, Güler said, "From now on, we wish to further develop our relations with Japan in every field, especially in the military and defense industry, on the basis of our deep-rooted friendship and strategic partnership." he said.
