Tyson Fury Forces Mariusz Wach to Retire in Tune-Up Bout Ahead of Anthony Joshua Showdown

Tyson Fury forced Mariusz Wach to retire in the eighth round of their non-televised bout in Thailand, setting the stage for his anticipated showdown with Anthony Joshua. The fight, attended by about 1,500 fans at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, will feature in Netflix’s reality show, At Home with the Furys. Wach, 46, had lost seven of his last 10 fights and could not continue past the seventh round. Fury, turning 38 in August, has won 36 of his professional bouts, with his only losses coming against Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk in 2024. Fury announced his return to boxing in January after retiring in December 2024. He is a two-time world champion, having ended Wladimir Klitschko’s reign in 2015 and later claiming the WBC title through a trilogy with Deontay Wilder. Anthony Joshua, also a former world heavyweight champion, is set to face Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, ahead of his potential matchup with Fury.
