Minister of Transport Uraloğlu announced that the restoration of the Historical Gediz Bridge has been completed.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated at the opening ceremony of the Historical Gediz Bridge, which was restored to its original state in Menemen district, that it is an open-air museum bearing the traces of thousands of years of civilization in Anatolia.

Stating that they not only built the transportation infrastructure of the country, but also preserved the memory of these lands, Uraloğlu said:

"We are working to restore historical buildings to their original state and pass them on to future generations. To date, we have restored our historical bridges in many parts of our country, such as Sangarios, Hıdırlık, Malabadi, Kızılin, Taşköprü, Osmancık Koyunbaba and Diyarbakır Ongözlü, and added them to our cultural heritage. The number of historical bridges that we have completed their restorations and added to our cultural heritage has reached 532. We continue the restoration works of 48 historical bridges. The Historical Bridges we opened today By adding the Gediz Bridge to this determined march, we are offering one more of its meaningful stops, both technically and spiritually, to the service of our nation."

Minister Uraloğlu explained that approximately 349 billion liras have been invested in Izmir's transportation and communication infrastructure in the last 24 years, the length of divided roads has been increased from 431 kilometers to 1000 kilometers, and the length of bituminous hot mixture coated roads has been increased from 366 kilometers to 1017 kilometers.

Reminding that the travel time with the Izmir-Istanbul Highway has been reduced from 8.5 hours to 3.5 hours, Uraloğlu stated that the travel time will decrease to 3.5 hours when the Izmir-Ankara High Speed ​​​​Train project, which is being built in stages, is completed.

Governor of Izmir, Süleyman Elban, stated that great steps have been taken in highway investments in the last 24 years, that Türkiye's divided road network has exceeded 30 thousand kilometers, and that in addition to these projects, works of historical and cultural value have also been restored.

General Director of Highways, Ahmet Gülşen, stated that the bridge, which was built with an overhead reinforced concrete arch system, was repaired and strengthened in the arch, deck, tensioner, wind beams and piers, and that the original character of the structure was preserved and carried to the future.
