VfB Stuttgart defeated 1. FC Köln 4-1 in their first home game

VfB Stuttgart dominated 1. FC Köln in their first home game of the new Bundesliga season. The Champions League participant beat coach René Wagner's team 4-1 (1-0).

Bilal El Khannouss (39th minute) gave the Swabians the lead. New signing Grischa Prömel (60th) increased the score to 2-0 in front of 60,000 spectators, including national coach Jürgen Klopp. In the final phase, Ermedin Demirovic scored (75th). VfB defender Ramon Hendriks (81') scored an own goal a little later before Josha Vagnoman (90') made the final score.

A week after the opening 5-1 defeat at FC Bayern Munich, the Swabians stormed off with determination from the start. The Cologne team had to compete without their star striker Said El Mala, who was ill, and were initially lucky: Josha Vagnoman and Dzenan Pejcinovic hit the crossbar in the early stages.

But Prömel disillusioned the guests with his goal before Demirovic, who had been substituted five minutes earlier, made everything clear. From Cologne's point of view, Hendrik's own goal was just a correction of the result before Vagnoman restored the old gap.
