The much-awaited Annapurna Bhandar (Annapurna Yojana) has now gone live in West Bengal almost a month after the BJP stormed into power. Under the scheme, the eligible women beneficiaries are set to receive ₹3,000 per month directly into their bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The scheme replaces the earlier Lakshmir Bhandar programme and is expected to benefit millions of women across West Bengal. With the first round of payments beginning, many beneficiaries are now wondering whether the money has already been credited to their accounts and how they can verify the payment status.

How to Check if Your ₹3,000 Payment Has Been Credited
Beneficiaries can check their payment status through the state's Social Security Portal. To verify whether the amount has been credited:
Visit the Social Security Portal.
Live Events
Select the "Track Applicant Status" option.
Enter your Application ID, Aadhaar number or registered mobile number.
Check the latest status of your application and payment.
Beneficiaries can also directly check their Aadhaar-linked bank account through net banking, mobile banking, passbook updates or bank statements to confirm whether the DBT amount has been received.

Why Some Beneficiaries May Not Receive the Money Immediately
Even if an applicant is eligible, payment delays can occur if there are issues with Aadhaar seeding or bank account details.
The government has repeatedly emphasized that the monthly assistance will be transferred only to the beneficiary's Aadhaar-linked bank account through DBT. Incorrect account information, inactive bank accounts or failed Aadhaar linkage may prevent the transfer from being processed.
Experts advise beneficiaries to verify their Aadhaar-bank account linkage and ensure that their account remains active.
Who Is Eligible for Annapurna Bhandar?
According to the scheme guidelines, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Must be a woman aged between 25 and 60 years.
Should not be a permanent government employee.
Should not be receiving a government salary or pension.
Should not be an income-tax payer.
Eligible beneficiaries will receive ₹3,000 every month, significantly higher than the assistance provided under the previous Lakshmir Bhandar scheme.
What Happens to Existing Lakshmir Bhandar Beneficiaries?
Women who were already receiving benefits under the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme do not generally need to start the process from scratch.
The state government has stated that existing beneficiaries are being migrated to the new scheme, subject to verification and eligibility checks. However, beneficiaries are still advised to check their status and ensure that their banking details are correct.
How to Apply for Annapurna Bhandar
For new applicants, both online and offline enrolment options are available.
The government has launched a dedicated application process, and applicants can submit the required form along with supporting documents through the official portal or designated enrolment camps. Authorities have announced a 90-day enrolment drive to facilitate registrations across the state.
Applications undergo verification before approval, and only eligible beneficiaries will begin receiving the monthly assistance.
