An F-4 Phantom fighter jet crashed during an air show in Greece.

While authorities reported that two pilots lost their lives, they noted that the accident occurred approximately 2 kilometers away from the airstrip. Local sources stated that 11 fire extinguishing planes and helicopters intervened in the fire that broke out after the accident, and the flames were prevented from spreading to the nearby forest area.

Eyewitnesses speaking to the local press stated that they were shocked by the accident and said, "We were all astonished, it had not been more than three minutes since the plane took off."

According to Greek media, the plane suddenly started losing altitude and crashed into the ground. Athens Flight Week was suspended while organizers began evacuating the area following the crash. The event in question was planned to be held at Tanagra Air Base for two days on September 5 and 6, with the participation of Greek and foreign military aircraft.
