Chinese electric carmaker BYD will begin production at its new factory in Hungary in the fourth quarter of this year. The company has paused work on a planned factory in Turkey to focus on European production. BYD is also exploring acquiring an existing car plant in Southern Europe, with Spain being considered.
Nissan is in non-binding talks to manufacture cars for Chinese manufacturer Chery at its Sunderland plant in northern England. The deal could secure jobs for 6,000 workers and mark the first mass-market Chinese car production in Britain.
