The US Department of Justice has joined xAI in suing Colorado to block its AI anti-discrimination law (SB 205). The DOJ argues the law mandates discrimination, while critics say it's an attempt to reframe consumer protections as "woke" overreach. A revised bill (SB 189) has since replaced SB 205, weakening its transparency and bias assessment requirements.
Mung Chiang, a former top scorer in Hong Kong public exams and the first Asian American to lead Northwestern University, will assume the presidency on July 1. The appointment comes amid ongoing scrutiny of the university's DEI policies and handling of anti-war protests.
