New Blood Test Can Screen Thousands of Fetal Genetic Diseases
A new non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT) called NIFS can screen for thousands of severe genetic diseases by analyzing fetal DNA from maternal blood, with over 97% accuracy. Developed by researchers from the Broad Institute, this technology promises to reduce reliance on invasive procedures like amniocentesis, though concerns about over-screening and parental anxiety have been raised.
