Hundreds of residents in Janakpuri, West Delhi have been suffering from contaminated water flowing through taps for almost five months, with the problem becoming continuous over the past six months. The water smells like a sewer, turns black when filled in buckets, and has caused stomach infections and skin diseases among residents, particularly the elderly. Despite complaints to the MLA, councillor, and Delhi Jal Board officials, no permanent solution has been found. DJB has identified a surcharge condition in the local sewer as the cause and begun replacement work.
