The Russian head of state approved the candidacy of Shchukin for the post of the head of Dagestan at a meeting with Dagestani officials on April 30

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Sergey Melikov will leave his post as head of Dagestan when his term ends in September, moving to another role. At a Kremlin meeting with Dagestan representatives, Putin endorsed Fyodor Shchukin, head of the Supreme Court of Dagestan, as the next head of the region, and Magomed Ramazanov for prime minister.
