Coroner Describes 'Chaotic Scene' at Arena During Adam Johnson Fatal Neck Injury Response
A pre-inquest review into the death of ice hockey player Adam Johnson, who suffered a fatal neck injury during a match in October 2023, has heard paramedics describe a chaotic scene at the arena. Senior coroner Tanyka Rawden said she has questions about how Yorkshire Ambulance Service accessed the ice and about the availability of blood to attending paramedics. The coroner plans to call player Matt Petgrave, whose skate struck Johnson, and nine other players to give evidence, though none are currently in the UK. The inquest is unlikely to take place this year and is expected to last four to six weeks.
