The San Diego Padres have agreed to sell control to an investor group led by private equity billionaire José E. Feliciano and Kwanza Jones at an MLB-record $3.9 billion valuation. The Seidler family, whose late owner Peter Seidler took over in 2020, formally announced the deal Saturday. Feliciano and Jones are expected to have about 40% equity stake, with the Seidler family retaining some equity. The sale requires MLB approval.

Song Sung-mun of the San Diego Padres has been optioned to Triple-A El Paso after his MLB debut as a pinch runner against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the Mexico City Series. The former KBO All-Star signed a four-year contract with the Padres in December 2025 and began the 2026 season on the injured list. He went 6-for-14 in his last three minor league games before the call-up.

Song, who signed a four-year contract in December, began the season in the minors due to an oblique injury sustained during spring training. He hit .293 in 20 Triple-A games with 12 RBIs. If he plays Sunday, Song will become the third South Korean in MLB this season, joining Lee Jung-hoo (Giants) and Kim Hye-seong (Dodgers), his former Kiwoom Heroes teammates.
