Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned that global peace and security are at risk due to disregard for the UN Charter's principles, indirectly criticizing the US without naming it. He urged the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities and hoped for a peaceful resolution between the US and Iran.
China, as the rotating president of the UN Security Council, will host a high-level meeting on May 22 focusing on the UN Charter's contemporary value and the importance of adhering to its principles. Foreign Minister Wang Yi will chair the meeting, which is open to all UN member states.
