Pinkfong's 'Baby Shark' English version surpasses 1 billion streams on Spotify

The English version of Pinkfong's representative song 'Pinkfong Baby Shark' (hereinafter 'Baby Shark') has surpassed 1 billion cumulative streams on Spotify, the world's largest music platform, The Pinkfong Company announced on the 22nd.

This song has been listed in the 'Billionaires Club,' which targets songs with over 1 billion streams, for the first time as a character intellectual property (IP) and the first time as a single kids' song.

The Pinkfong Company explained, "The Billionaires Club includes representative songs by global artists such as Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, BTS, and Blackpink," adding, "While achievements are generally formed based on the fandom and popular music trends of global artists, 'Baby Shark' is a record created through the power of characters and content."

'Baby Shark' is a kids' song famous for 'Baby shark doo doo doo doo doo∼,' and it has been loved by toddlers not only in Korea but also around the world for its easy-to-follow melody and chorus.

The video 'Pinkfong Baby Shark Gymnastics' (Baby Shark Dance), based on 'Baby Shark,' has recorded 16.9 billion views on YouTube and has maintained the #1 global view count for 65 consecutive months.

Through this, 'Baby Shark' has become an IP that simultaneously holds the significant records of #1 YouTube views and 1 billion Spotify streams.

'Baby Shark' was played a total of 137 million times on Spotify in the past year, from May last year to this month. During this period, the number of listeners was 23 million, and the number of playlists exceeded 1.14 million. This is equivalent to approximately 400,000 plays per day, or about 5 plays every second worldwide.
