SEOUL, Aug. 12 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean won marginally rose against the U.S. dollar Wednesday, as exporters continued to sell the dollar with traders awaiting U.S. inflation data. The won was quoted at 1,415.7 won per dollar at 3:30 p.m., up 0.3 won from the close of stock trading the previous day. So far this week, the won has held firm with a trading range of some 1,410 per dollar, marking the strongest level since early October last year. However, the won's appreciation was limited amid continued military tension between the United States and Iran in the Middle East, with little headway reported in reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Foreigners bought a net 2.8 trillion won (US$1.9 billion) worth of local stocks during the latest trading session, with the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index jumping 3.68 percent to close at 6,579.04.
