Taiwan's Executive Yuan spokesperson, Li Hui-chih, announced that Taiwan will establish a cross-ministry review mechanism to restrict the import of goods produced by forced labor, in response to a US "forced labor 301 investigation report" that imposed a 10% tariff on Taiwan. The mechanism will be based on the "Trade Act" to regulate such imports, aligning with international human rights standards.

Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs clarified that upcoming US tariffs under Section 301 will transition after Section 122 expires, with Section 122 tariffs becoming zero and not stacking with Section 301 rates. Taiwan aims to secure fair treatment in negotiations.

The US has released a "forced labor 301 investigation report" recommending tariffs on 60 countries. Taiwan, having signed a "reciprocal trade agreement" (ART) with the US, is among 14 nations recommended for a lower tariff rate of 10%, with final decisions expected by late July.
