The Indian Navy unveiled the crest of INS Dunagiri, a Project 17A stealth frigate. Named after a Himalayan peak, it symbolizes multi-domain combat capability with advanced weaponry and sensors, and is set for commissioning soon.
An IAF unit led by Air Commodore Rohit Kapil successfully intercepted and destroyed a Pakistani ballistic missile over Sirsa airspace in May last year using the Barak-8 surface-to-air missile system, potentially saving Delhi from a major attack during the Indo-Pak conflict. The missile, believed to be a Fatah or Shaheen-II variant, was destroyed by 45 Wing at a forward base near the Pakistan border. Parts were retrieved on May 10. Air Commodore Kapil received the Yudh Seva Medal on August 14 for his air defence role.
