President Droupadi Murmu presented the Padma Shri to former India cricket captain Rohit Sharma for his significant contributions to the sport. The award was given at a ceremony in New Delhi.
The Indian Military Academy (IMA) commissioned its first batch of nine women officer cadets as Army officers at its 158th Passing Out Parade. President Droupadi Murmu, the reviewing officer, called it a "major milestone" for women empowerment and a step towards inspiring more women to join the Army. The ceremony also saw 515 cadets, including 34 foreign cadets, graduate.

Veteran hockey coach Baldev Singh will receive the Padma Shri award on May 25 for his significant contributions to Indian hockey. Singh transformed Shahabad Markanda into a hockey hub, producing over 80 international players.
Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha will meet President Droupadi Murmu on May 5 to raise concerns over alleged misuse of state machinery in Punjab and flag political vendetta against MPs who recently quit the Aam Aadmi Party and joined the BJP. The meeting is scheduled for 10:40 am and Chadha will be accompanied by three other MPs. This comes after Chadha resigned from AAP and joined BJP on April 24, along with six other Rajya Sabha MPs, citing that the party had deviated from its founding principles.
