
Teen who took laughing gas before driving into couple outside club guilty of murder
Kian Bateman, 19, has been found guilty of murdering Shelley Davies, 38, by driving into her and her partner David Bratcher, 40, outside a social club in Caerau, Cardiff on 27 September 2025. Davies died in hospital three weeks later from injuries including rib, arm, pelvis and hip fractures, and complications from infections. Bateman admitted inhaling nitrous oxide (laughing gas) before the incident. He was cleared of attempted murder of Bratcher but convicted of GBH with intent. Sentencing is scheduled for 3 July 2026.
