A-listers including Tarantino and Minogue film new drama in Wales

A host of A-listers have dazzled locals in Wales in recent days after popping up in parts of the country to take part in a new film.

Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino and Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue were seen hand-in-hand in Cardiff, and were also spotted in the seaside town of Porthcawl.

American rapper and actor RZA was also spotted by a fan while grabbing some noodles in the Welsh capital.

All three are reportedly appearing in forthcoming drama Tangled Up in Blue, which is being directed by Welsh filmmaker Jamie Adams.

Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill director Tarantino is reportedly playing the role of a wealthy benefactor in the drama, which is set in Wales as well as being filmed there.

According to Rolling Stone magazine the director, Adams, who grew up in Porthcawl, pitched the idea to Tarantino, external after they worked together on Adams' previous film Only What We Carry.

The film is named after Bob Dylan's song from his 1975 album Blood on the Tracks, and will also star Jason Isaacs and Sofia Boutella, as well as Welsh actors Julian Lewis Jones, Craig Russell, Siwan Morris, and Karen Paullada.

Tarantino and Minogue were seen filming at Newton Church and Saltwater Inn in Porthcawl, and the film director also surprised guests while enjoying a drink with a film crew in the Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff on 19 June.

Helen Harvey, from Swindon, was staying with her friends at the hotel and came across Tarantino reading at a table with a "stack of books".

"I went back to my group and said 'there's a bloke in there who looks like Quentin Tarantino'," she said.

"My friend said they'd heard he was staying at the hotel so I went back just to say I love your films, I'm a big fan."

She described Tarantino as "gracious and charming" adding that he thanked her for the kind words.

Harvey told him that she had introduced her daughter to Tarantino's films and that her favourites were the Kill Bill movies.

"It was a lovely interaction and I was really pleased that he was so kind when I disturbed his reading.

"A true gent", she added.

Tarantino and Minogue were also pictured leaving National Museum Cardiff hand-in-hand on Monday, while Tarantino was seen filming in central Cardiff on Wednesday afternoon.

Tarantino, 64, recently relocated to the UK as he develops a "swashbuckling comedy" play set in 1830s Europe, which is due to launch in early 2027.

The Popinjay Cavalier will be Tarantino's debut as a theatre writer and director, after previously speaking about his desire to retire from movies after making 10 films.

Meanwhile, pop legend Minogue, 58, is no stranger to Wales thanks to her strong Welsh roots.

Her family were originally from Maesteg in Bridgend county, and emigrated to Australia during the 1950s.

Over the years, Minogue has spoken about the Welsh side of her family and has said performing in Cardiff is always extra special, as she even knows a few phrases in Welsh.
