Resident doctors in England have voted to accept a new government pay and jobs deal, ending strike action that cost the NHS £1bn. The deal includes a 6.6% average pay uplift by April 2027 and 4,500 extra training places.
England's 75,000 resident doctors will strike for 96 hours from June 15-19, seeking a pay increase to offset a 26% real-terms loss since 2008-09 and more training places, amidst a long-running dispute with the NHS and new Health Secretary James Murray, who deems their demands 'unrealistic' and 'unsustainable'.
