Germany to Mandate Electronic Cash Registers for Businesses Over €100,000 Turnover
Germany's Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil plans to mandate electronic cash registers for businesses with annual turnover exceeding €100,000 to combat tax evasion. The new rules, effective January 2027, include fines for non-compliance and stricter penalties for manipulating records. The receipt obligation for small amounts will be relaxed, with a €30 threshold, and digital alternatives are envisioned.
