US Authorities Investigate Suspected Trump Assassination Attempt for Left-Wing Group Links
US authorities are investigating potential links between Cole Thomas Allen, the 31-year-old suspect accused of attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump at the Washington Hilton hotel on April 25, and left-wing political groups, specifically The Wide Awakes organization. Acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed the investigation at a press conference. The shooting occurred during an annual reception of the Association of Correspondents accredited to the White House, attended by senior administration officials. A security guard was injured and the suspect was arrested and charged with attempting to assassinate the US president, illegally transporting a firearm across state lines, and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence.
