Sachsen-Anhalt police are hosting a "True Crime Hackathon" on September 25th in Halle, inviting individuals over 18 from diverse fields like IT, psychology, and statistics to develop new investigative approaches for unsolved cases and cybercrime.
Netflix documentary Should I Marry a Murderer? tells the story of Dr Caroline Muirhead who discovered her partner Alexander McKellar had killed cyclist Tony Parsons in 2017 in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. McKellar and his twin brother buried the body, which remained undiscovered for three years until Muirhead led police to the shallow grave in 2020. The series explores her moral dilemma - reporting the crime to police while continuing the relationship, eventually helping authorities secure convictions that saw McKellar jailed for 12 years and his brother for five years and three months.
