Jeong Jun-seok sets a new competition record and wins the men's javelin throw at the National Athletics Championships

Jeong Jun-seok (Korea National Sport University) set a new competition record and won the championship in the men's javelin throw at the 54th Korea Athletics Federation (KAAF) Green National Athletics Championships.

Jeong Jun-seok won the gold medal with a personal and competition record of 78m76 in the finals held at Yecheon Stadium in Yecheon-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do on the 21st.

Jeong Jun-seok, who ranked 6th in the all-time men's javelin throw, said, "I entered the game with the goal of breaking a personal best record, and I am proud that my record exceeded my expectations. I will not be arrogant and will try to record a better record."

Seo Min-jun (Seocheon County Office) won the men's 200m final at the 2026 Korea Open International Athletics Championships held at the same location with a time of 20.77 seconds.

On this day, the Korea Athletics Federation paid a reward of 10 million won each to Park Won-bin (Army Athletic Corps) and the leader who set a new Korean record in 36 years in the men's 3,000m steeplechase race on April 11.

In addition, as part of the youth athletics gifted scholarship project, 5 million won each was awarded as a performance improvement sponsorship scholarship to Wang Seo-yoon, Kim Jeong-yoon, Son Chang-hyun, Lee Da-yeon, and Ryu Do-hyung, who set Korean records in the 100m, 200m, and 400m relay in the middle school girls' division this year.
