The German party organizes a protest against the closure of the Russian House in Berlin

The party organized the protest event after the decision to close the Russian House and force its experts to leave Germany within 7 days. This German decision comes due to unsubstantiated accusations of a drone attack, although ending the legal agreement will not officially enter into force until July 2027.

The number of employees in the building is about 60, of whom only 7 Russian experts and their families will be forced to leave, while the local employees will remain.

The owner of the Samovar Hof Café confirms that these experts are the ones actually managing the activity, which makes the closure a reality despite the building remaining under the ownership of the Russian state under the 2013 agreement for 99 years. The future of other tenants, such as bookstores, apartments and media offices, remains unclear.

Ilya Vilasov, spokesman for the party's forum, confirmed that the support stems from considering the Russian House an official cultural bridge for scientific exchange, while emphasizing the importance of preserving the Goethe Institutes in Russia as well. In this context, the party launched an electronic petition that garnered more than 12,000 signatures, in exchange for a counter-petition from exiled cultural figures who called for transforming the building into an alternative center, but it garnered only 50 signatures. Velasov concluded that his party is anti-war and seeks dialogue to save this cultural bridge to represent a broader spectrum of opinions.
