Melnikova spoke about the lack of visas before the World Cup

Olympic champion Angelina Melnikova reported that the Russian team's departure for the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in the Netherlands is being postponed due to non-issuance of visas.

The world championship, at which tickets to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles will be awarded, will be held in Rotterdam on October 17–25. On Thursday, the former senior coach of the Russian artistic gymnastics team, Valentina Rodionenko, told RIA Novosti that October 9 is the last working day of the embassy before the departure of the Russian team. Later, the Russian Gymnastics Federation reported that the athletes did not receive visas two days before departure.

“Our flight to the World Cup is being postponed due to the fact that there are no visas. Am I upset? Not particularly, since I was ready for this. Tired? Yes, very much, from the lack of a clear plan and the constant expectation of this plan,” Melnikova wrote in her Telegram channel.

“I just hope for the best outcome in this situation, as long as there is happiness at the end of this story, and we will overcome all the difficulties,” the athlete added.
