Abha Club announced, on Wednesday, the appointment of Croatian coach Teo Perija to lead the team, succeeding his compatriot Damir Buric, according to what the management revealed through its official account on “X”.
Al-Sharq Al-Awsat had previously indicated that the name of the Croatian coach, who had previously worked in the club’s youth sector, had emerged as one of the options proposed to take over the job, coinciding with the management’s moves to end its association with the previous technical staff.
The new coach holds a European coaching license, UEFA Pro, and has previously worked in the youth groups at Al-Nasr Club, and had training experiences with Al-Arabi of Qatar and Al-Riyadh, in addition to the Armenian club Noah.
The technical change comes in light of Abha’s suffering in the Saudi Roshan League, as it sits at the bottom of the table in eighteenth place with two points, without achieving any victory, after a series of negative results, the last of which was a loss to Al-Faisaly.
Abha is preparing to host Al-Ittihad, on Friday, in the first test for the new coach, amid aspirations to restore the tone of victories, correct the team’s path, and improve its position in the ranking table.
