The State Duma assessed the likelihood of the conflict in Ukraine ending before winter

There really is hope for ending the conflict in Ukraine before the onset of winter, says Alexei Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Relations. He spoke about the likelihood of a quick end to hostilities in a conversation with Lenta.ru.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky expressed hope for the end of the conflict before winter. He stated this at a meeting with his American counterpart Donald Trump at the UN General Assembly.

According to the deputy, certain progress was noticeable after the visit of American negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kyiv.

“Zelensky’s European supervisors tried in every possible way to break certain agreements that were agreed upon with the American side and put forward by our leadership. They, just like in 2022, just like a year ago, after Alaska, are still trying to break these agreements, but it’s becoming more and more difficult for them to do this. If we recall the delegation’s visit to Kyiv, there was already some progress there even on the most difficult issue - territorial. You remember, Zelensky made a certain statement about this at a press conference,” the politician said.

After the visits of American negotiators to Moscow and Kyiv, it seemed that there was a certain lull, but now Zelensky was invited to New York, where, obviously, he received some instructions, the parliamentarian shared.

“In addition, there is an understanding, and it is growing stronger every day, that Ukraine cannot cope with the growing advantage on the fronts, with the growing advantage in the drone war. And NATO cannot cope with this. Competition with our Armed Forces ends in their defeat. It is clear that there are energy problems ahead that Kyiv will not be able to withstand, and financial difficulties. We remember that only a third of the promised 90 billion loan deliveries were completed, and Ukraine requested an additional 27 billion, which shocked Europe,” the speaker listed.
