(Invest in China) Intuitive Medical Increases Innovation and Industrial Collaboration in China

The 38th Shanghai Mayor’s International Entrepreneur Advisory Conference is about to open. As a member of the "Foreign High Ginseng", Gu Jiarui shared with the media his company's practice of taking root in Shanghai and his thoughts on investment layout in China.

As the manufacturer of the da Vinci surgical robot, Intuitive Medical relies on this core product to achieve more precise diagnosis and treatment than traditional open surgery. As restrictions on foreign investment in China's manufacturing industry are completely cleared and medical-related fields are opened on a pilot basis, this multinational company is accelerating its deep penetration into the Chinese market.

Talking about the future layout in China, Gu Jiarui said that Intuitive Medical will deepen investment cooperation in China from three major directions. First, we will continue to strengthen the cultivation of clinical talents and rely on the leading clinical training center in Shanghai to carry out systematic technical training for domestic medical workers. Secondly, we will deepen cooperation in the local industrial chain and strengthen linkages with domestic upstream and downstream robotics companies to jointly build a supply chain system. Thirdly, we will seize opportunities in digitalization and artificial intelligence and explore medical AI innovation opportunities. We look forward to conducting more pragmatic discussions with local governments and local partners to promote the implementation of technology.

Gu Jiarui said that Shanghai’s engineering manufacturing supply, AI innovation capabilities, high-quality clinical resources and other innovative elements are all in place, and the industry development momentum is encouraging.

The upcoming ninth China International Import Expo (hereinafter referred to as the CIIE) will become an important stage for the debut of new intuitive medical technologies. Gu Jiarui revealed that not only the new generation da Vinci 5th generation surgical robot will be unveiled at this CIIE, but the da Vinci single-hole surgical robot will also be displayed simultaneously.

Gu Jiarui said that he looks forward to continuing to move forward side by side with China's industrial ecology in the next few decades and relying on open platforms such as the China International Import Expo to bring more global cutting-edge medical technologies to China.
