State control of building materials and other industrial products will begin in Russia on September 1

State control over certain types of industrial products, including building materials, will begin to operate in Russia on September 1.

The measure is aimed at guaranteeing the quality of goods and provides for a recall of products in case of non-compliance with standards, and the manufacturer will have to eliminate the non-conformities at his own expense.

The introduction of state control is due to the growth of counterfeit goods and requests from bona fide manufacturers due to the practice of providing “golden samples” by unscrupulous manufacturers.

State control over some industrial products, including building materials, will begin to operate in Russia from September 1, this will guarantee Russians quality goods, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia Gennady Abramenkov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“We want to create a system that definitely guarantees the consumer that he is using high-quality building material. And in case of non-compliance, recall it before it gets to this construction site. The manufacturer will have to eliminate the discrepancy at his own expense,” Abramenkov said about the introduction of state control on a number of types of industrial products.

The deputy head of the department explained that this measure is being returned at the request of Russian business. Over the course of five years, the market has felt the consequences of the abolition of such a mechanism. In addition, there has been a significant increase in counterfeiting of some goods.

In some cases, according to Abramenkov, unscrupulous manufacturers provide a “golden sample” for certification. He advises all the necessary requirements, but low-quality products will end up on the market.

“By saving on costs, they (unscrupulous manufacturers - ed.) provide a more competitive, that is, lower price. In this regard, bona fide manufacturers, for example, from the construction materials sector, began to contact us,” explained the deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
