Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, Sergei Kravtsov, announced that a program for studying Arabic in Russian schools has been approved, which will begin to operate on September 1 of the new academic year.

“Arabic is one of the most common languages ​​in the world. Strengthening relations with Arab countries is one of the directions of foreign policy. And if the guys who study Arabic at school then become specialists, say, in the field of foreign economic relations or translators, then this will probably be useful,” Smolin told aif.ru.

According to the deputy, several languages ​​were studied in the Soviet education system, and the current geopolitical situation is making its own adjustments. At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that for the successful implementation of this initiative, qualified teachers who understand the specifics of the Arabic language are needed.
