Preparations are continuing for the 1st Ordinary Congress of the NEW Party, which will be held on 14-15 November.
According to the news in AA, the countdown has begun for the congress of the NEW Party, which started its activities as Türkiye's 189th political party on May 21 and received the title of "main opposition party" with the number of seats in the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
In this context, congress delegates were determined through primary elections and congresses held in districts and provinces in the congress calendar that started on August 26.
NEW Party Chairman Özgür Özel will enter the primary elections in 81 provinces on November 8 to be elected chairman by the votes of the members within the scope of the calendar. Those who become members of the party until November 5 will be able to vote in the primary election.
Subsequently, the congress, which is the most authorized decision-making body of the party, will be held on 14-15 November, as a result of the decision taken at the Party Assembly (PM) meeting on 28 October.
In the two-day congress, the Congress Presidency Council will be elected first and Chairman Özel will address the party members. Then, more than 1000 delegates will go to the polls to determine the chairman, the 80-person PM and the 15-person High Disciplinary Board (YDK).
DELEGATE SIGNATURE REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL CHAIRMAN CANDIDATE
In order to become a candidate for Chairman of the party, at least 5 percent of the total number of delegate members must submit a written application to the Congress Presidency Council.
The Chairman is elected at the congress by secret ballot and by the absolute majority of the total number of members. If no results are obtained in the first two ballots, the candidate with the most votes is elected in the third ballot.
In the PM, which is the most authorized body after the congress, 10 delegates are required to sign in order to become a candidate for membership.
In the NEW Party's statute, for the election of PM and YDK members, "The rule in elections is a clear list." However, before moving on to the work report and discussions item on the agenda, it is also possible to hold elections by block list method upon the written proposal of 1/10 of the total number of congress members.
The block list includes a select number of primary and reserve PM and YDK candidates submitted by the chairman candidates. In accordance with the regulation, gender and youth quotas are required to be adhered to in this list.
ÖZGÜR ÖZEL WILL APPEAR IN FRONT OF THE DELEGATE
The congress, where NEW Party Chairman Özgür Özel will be the only candidate, is planned to be held using the block list method.
It is expected that Özel will make changes to the list in the congress, the PM, which consists of the members of the founding board, and the Central Executive Board, which he will later create.
CONGRESS PREPARATIONS CONTINUE
Preparations are continuing for the first congress of the NEW Party, which will be held in Ankara Arena Sports Hall. While the sound, lighting and stage organization works continue, the necessary work is also carried out for the transportation and accommodation of the delegates.
While accreditation will be provided to members of the press who want to follow the elections, spectators and representatives of other political parties will also be invited to the congress.
According to the Political Parties Law, the congress will be held under the supervision and control of the Supreme Electoral Council and the results can be objected to within 2 days.
The chairman, PM and YDK members to be elected after the congress will visit Anıtkabir on Saturday, November 21.
MYK members will be determined at the PM meeting to be held afterwards.
