Jeonnam Gwangju Unified Special City runs a mental health promotion week from the 10th to the 24th to mark Mental Health Day.

Jeonnam Gwangju Unified Special City announced on the 4th that in celebration of 'Mental Health Day (October 10th)', it will designate the 10th to the 24th as 'Mental Health Promotion Week' and hold cultural events and campaigns.

This year's event was designed to create a social atmosphere where citizens can take care of their mental health in their daily lives under the theme, 'Face it, mental health begins with facing it.'

Hosted by the Unified City and co-hosted by the Gwangju-Jeonnam Metropolitan Mental Health Welfare Center, 27 Basic Mental Health Welfare Centers and 7 Addiction Management Integrated Support Centers.

The commemorative ceremony will be held in the conference room of the Gwangju City Hall at 2 p.m. on the 16th.

At the first part of the ceremony, the mayor's commendation will be awarded to those who have dedicated themselves to mental health and suicide prevention, followed by a congratulatory performance of the popera team's Chin Chin Classic.

In Part 2, Park Jae-yeon, director of the Replus Human Research Institute, will give a special lecture on the theme of ‘The freedom that comes when you face your emotions.’

In front of the event venue, an information program on addiction diseases such as alcohol will be operated along with the promotion of mental health projects for each life cycle of the integrated city.

Campaigns and events are held throughout Gwangju, South Jeolla Province to promote the importance of mental health and improve awareness.

An exhibition of works by mentally ill people will be held at the CM Art Hall in Dong-gu from the 8th to the 15th, and a 'Psychology

Various events were organized by region, such as talk concert (Gwangsan-gu), music talk concert (Yeosu-si), open lecture (Suncheon-si), addiction escape project (Dong-gu), and walking campaign (Naju, Gurye, Haenam, Yeongam, and Wando).
