China accused of using money diplomacy to block Taiwan's participation in World Health Assembly

Taiwan's national security adviser Huang Chongyan pointed out that allegedly leaked Chinese diplomatic documents showed that Beijing used money exchanges to try to get Micronesia and other countries to oppose Taiwan's participation in the World Health Assembly, and that the African Union sought additional funds to build a headquarters after receiving funding from China, which shows China's use of "checkbook diplomacy" to pressure Taiwan.

The documents reveal what the city knew about dangerous chemicals in Lower Manhattan and Western Brooklyn, and how it limited liability while publicly claiming the air was safe. Over 9,400 people have since died from illnesses linked to exposure, according to a federal monitoring program.
