Elections for local public officials are becoming increasingly intense, and there are constant rumors of bribery in various places. The Pingtung District Prosecutor's Office has recently directed the police investigation unit to carry out 11 waves of bribery investigations. A total of 107 people have been summoned, and 7 people have been detained in court. The court ruled that 3 people were detained and banned, and an underground gambling racket related to the county magistrate election was discovered.

Screen inspection pointed out that due to the small constituency and the concentration of key votes, the village chief election has become a key target for bribery by criminals. The prosecutor has summoned and interrogated 50 people in total, and applied to the court to detain 4 people, of which 3 were approved for detention and 1 was ordered to be released on bail; in the election of township citizen representatives, a total of 15 people were summoned and interrogated. In the election of county mayors, one case of election betting was discovered and one person was summoned. We will comprehensively prevent illegal means that affect the election.

Prosecutors pointed out that many unscrupulous candidates or prostitutes often distribute various small gifts, agricultural products, souvenir boxes or daily necessities under the guise of temple celebrations, social visits or community gatherings, and even provide free meals and subsidies at low or no cost. Providing transportation, accommodation, and entertainment for voters to travel, no matter how much the amount is or how the name is disguised, is essentially an act of bribery that endangers the integrity of the election.
