The famous Russian mountaineering instructor Albert Izotov became a victim of an avalanche in Kabardino-Balkaria. Baza reports this.

The 70-year-old man completed dozens of difficult routes, received the title of candidate master of sports and the third instructor category. For many years he led tourist groups and trained climbers, including members of the military department and intelligence services.

In September 2026, Izotov came to the Bezengi Gorge to improve the skills of the climbing group. All its participants were experienced athletes.

The instructor knew the gorge especially well. In 2018, he led a group on the Kundyum - Mizhirgi route at an altitude of about 4.5 thousand meters. In addition, Izotov went to the Eastern Mizhirgi and became a prize-winner at the St. Petersburg championship.
